Clementine’s Townhouse Hotel, York

Located in the affluent area of Clifton, Clementine’s Townhouse Hotel provides a quintessentially British, bohemian stay in the heart of York. JMDA were briefed by the HRH Group to transform the entire site into the most talked-about hotel in York. By incorporating the client's adoration of a 'dark and moody' setting with a maximalism style, this hotel is the definition of indulgent comfort.

Boasting ornate prints, rich velvets and flamboyant colour, Clementine’s Victorian heritage has been given a twist of curiosity. The restaurant and bar set the scene for a mysterious evening of wining and dining in a darkened, enigmatic lounge. All 28 bedrooms have been given a Maximalist twist on a classic British style, blending florals with gently lit geometrics to evoke a sense of candlelight. Bathrooms complement each room’s unique design with bright tiling and bold wallpapers juxtaposed against a New York-style shower screen. Hidden in the gardens, an external structure reveals a Ski-Lodge inspired bedroom. Complete with log burner, sauna and Alpine themed decoration, guests are transported to the snow-covered European mountains. The design is sensitive to the townhouse’s architectural heritage and uses its existing features to enhance the opulent British heritage scheme.
