Mother Shipton Inn, Knaresborough
JMDA were tasked by Admiral Taverns with breathing new life to the Mother Shipton Inn, a picturesque pub steeped in history, situated in the idyllic town of Knaresborough. The mysteries surrounding Mother Shipton’s Cave & the life of Mother Shipton herself were a driving inspiration behind the pubs recent refurbishment.
The pub’s cosy and welcoming environment was created using feature pendant lighting, eclectic mixes of furniture & fabrics together with a quirky collection of botanical and alchemy inspired clusters of bric-a-brac.
The site comprised of the barn, the bar, the nook & the beer garden. The barn area is separate to the bar which lent itself to being an event space for larger parties. The lowered nook featured a full height wall with botanical wallpaper, traditional pew seating and feature puddle curtains. Warming colours in the bar area unite with the existing timber panelling, new cast iron fireplace & of course the famous Guy Fawkes table to conjure up character and emphasise the pubs history and heritage.
