The Windmill, Windlesham

Blending contemporary design with traditional pub decor, the interior of the Windmill was designed by JMDA to recall the building's 18th century heritage without sacrificing the comfort and style of modern pubs.

The Windmill challenged JMDA with a relatively small and antiquated space that needed to be modernised. The lobby and bar area uses a range of earthy tones, matching the original flagstones with the light panelling of the bar. The overarching palette of orange and grey reflects the impressive fireplace as a centrepiece, while still complementing the natural, rustic wooden beams and preserving the homely feel of the bar area. The dining area, being more open and receiving more natural light, makes use of lighter colours. Brassy accents complete the look, offering a refined space for daytime dining.
