Thaikhun Street Bar, Liverpool

NORTHERN DESIGN AWARD WINNER...

Thaikhun Street Bar is the first of its kind, with a keen focus on delivering a new cocktail experience to Liverpool One. The design was inspired by the bustling city streets & floating water markets of Bangkok.

The sites existing features offered our design team great opportunities to create powerful impact from both within & externally. Located adjacent to Chavasse Park, the external scheme required an immediate draw to enhance its position on the terrace. Colourful loose external seating, festoon lighting & an eye catching new signage scheme captures the vibrancy of Liverpool’s city centre and creates a lasting impression.

The tall columns & high ceiling in the main area created the biggest challenge and equally the biggest opportunity. Using authentic Thai signage, 3D bric-a-brac pieces & pendant lighting suspended from the ceiling, we were able to recreate the atmosphere & vibrance of a Bangkok street. The ground floor area comprised of two parts; the Marketplace & the Warehouse. The Marketplace features fixed booths with market stall canopy, a bamboo canopy bar & a stage for live music performances. The Warehouse area features a shipping container bar, reclaimed Thai riverboat fixed seating & a feature digital artwork printed wall. With a much lower ceiling than the rest of the unit, this area was a more intimate affair where loose reclaimed furniture, rustic lighting and views out into the external seating area come together to create a snug hideaway for guests
